My day started very early as I prepared for a special reconnection. Before this could happen though I was at the Rotary meeting and had a great discussion with a group about bullying prevention and our responsibility to our youth. Immediately after the meeting I was off to Columbia to meet up with a great instructor, KJM Gerald Dawson.
He was my instructor about 12 or more years ago for a about a year or so and I really enjoyed training under him. We reconnected about a year ago, he came to our studio and did a seminar, and recently we have made arrangements for me to train with him again. Our goal is not just physical - but he will be helping me to understand how he trains his group of national tournament competitors and then developing our own curriculum so that our students have those skills also.
It was a good workout, much of it being spent in a horse stance - so I am sure I will be feeling it in the next day. My day in the afternoon was spent getting ready for classes, testing this weekend, and other events taking place. All of the students are getting stronger with their pushup and we have made it a battle cry that we are going to 100. It is going to be a wonderful feeling for all of them to reach that goal. Even our black belts are getting stronger on their pull ups - as we strive for 25 by the end of summer.
